Break out your dancing shoes! Join us for the Carrillo Rec Center's Friday Swing Dance! If you've been before, you know about the fabulous spring floor at this venue... pretty amazing to dance on. And some amazing dancers!! This is open to the public and all ages and abilities are welcomed. Many people come as singles, making the dances a perfect way to meet new friends. Plus you can be guaranteed to meet new folks if you attend either the beginning or intermediate Swing Dance lesson at 7:30p before the dance. If you've never done this dance, don't worry. In response to the widespread famine in East Africa affecting twelve million people, Santa Barbara musicians are banding together to present a marathon concert. All proceeds will be given to the Santa Barbara based international aid organization, Direct Relief International (http://directrelief.org), DRI, who with their partners on the ground, provide medical assistance to the hospitals and refugee camps. 100% of donations made go to DRI’s projects thanks to a generous bequest received in 2007. For every dollar donated, DRI turns that into $30 in medicine and medical supplies.
Our musical involvement will be as a mini-reunion of The Swizzle Sisters at approximately 7:45 pm.
